Spring cleaning isn't just about your closets!
After a long winter, it's time to inspect and clean/replace registers, exhausts, and filters. Build up of dust, dirt, lint and grease are certain to cause your heating/cooling/exhaust systems to run inefficiently, which will end up costing you more money and even worse, could cause a fire. Follow these tips to keep your home spring-time fresh and energy efficient...
- Clean or replace your furnace filter (depending on whether it's a reusable type).
- Clean or replace your kitchen hood exhaust filter (depending on whether it's the reusable type).
- Wipe down all of the registers around your home from your heating system.
- Wipe down the blades of your ceiling fan and make sure it's turning 'forward,' which blows the air down, creating a cooling affect on your skin.
- Clean out your dryer vent hose-it's not just that lint-screen that needs to be cleaned!
I'm often asked by people, especially women, how to learn how to use power tools...Let me rephrase... I'm realizing that only women have asked me this question. I guess guys are too embarrassed to admit their lack of saw-savvy, but like I always say, a tool doesn't know if it's a man or a woman holding it.
It's 4:45am and normally I'd be one cranky witch up so early-especially since I couldn't resist going out last night for dinner and drinks with my cousins, making bed time past midnight.
